Chiang Mai

We have been having so much fun in Thailand. Since the last blog update only a short 10 days ago our family has had quite the adventure. A couple of days had gone by and Steve invited to me to meet him for lunch, which was a Friday afternoon. Before we knew it the lunch date turned into a meeting with much of MonaVie Corporate staff and me. It was so fun to meet a lot of Steven’s coworkers and especially to get to know his two bosses a little better. I got to know them even better later that weekend because by the end of the lunch date we
had all conspired to all take a weekend get-away trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand, which is in northern Thailand. We all agreed how many could and would go and we went back to the office and booked flights. We called the boys and they were so excited, especially when we mentioned riding motorcycles and going to an elephant camp to ride an elephant.

The weekend adventure began at 6:15am Saturday morning at the Suvamabhumi International Airport in Bangkok. The boys were pretty pumped at this point. We met the others that were going, a total of 14 of us, for the hour flight to Chaing Mai. When we landed we found a hotel and checked-in.

We then all took a local Thai “taxi” which is a truck that everyone
piles in the back of or hangs on the back while standing on the bumper (Gray and Jace loved hanging on the back!).

We went to a local, very authentic, Thai restaurant that serves northern Thai food.

We then all rode motorcycles up what is reported to be beautiful scenic Thai jungle mountains… but all we saw was fog from the POORING rain that we all rode in and got drenched! Thankfully, even though we were all very wet, we were all safe – even despite the fact that Steven ran his motorcycle into a ditch.

Later we went to an incredibly cool elephant training camp to see and ride the elephants. The boys loved all of it, especially when the elephants painted pictures and played soccer!

Then on to the Monkey Show!
(Silly Monkeys!!)

Grayson got into the show by getting tied up then rescued by a Monkey... followed by a big monkey smooch!

Here kitty, kitty, kitty.... onto the tigers!

Psycho Snake Show!!
(Thai snake handlers know how to have a good time with a boom box, a mic, and a few deadly serpents!)

Finally the tranquil Orchid Farm...
South East Asia is famous for their exquisite orchids, they are beautiful!

Umbrella Making Factory
The Thai umbrella making and decorating craftsmanship was fascinating. They are able to paint elaborate and beautiful works of art on their umbrellas in minutes.

Having our "Davis Family Chiang Mai 2011" umbrella made.

A Buddhist Temple
Our final stop before flying back to Bangkok was a visit to one of the 62 Buddhist Temples in Chiang Mai.
